After You ***Contains Spoilers for Me Before You***

Genre: Contemporary

Synopsis:

How do you move on after losing the person you loved? How do you build a life worth living?

Louisa Clark is no longer just an ordinary girl living an ordinary life. After the transformative six months spent with Will Traynor, she is struggling without him. When an extraordinary accident forces Lou to return home to her family, she can’t help but feel she’s right back where she started.

Her body heals, but Lou herself knows that she needs to be kick-started back to life. Which is how she ends up in a church basement with the members of the Moving On support group, who share insights, laughter, frustrations, and terrible cookies. They will also lead her to the strong, capable Sam Fielding—the paramedic, whose business is life and death, and the one man who might be able to understand her. Then a figure from Will’s past appears and hijacks all her plans, propelling her into a very different future. . . .

For Lou Clark, life after Will Traynor means learning to fall in love again, with all the risks that brings. But here Jojo Moyes gives us two families, as real as our own, whose joys and sorrows will touch you deeply, and where both changes and surprises await.

After You is quintessential Jojo Moyes—a novel that will make you laugh, cry, and rejoice at being back in the world she creates. Here she does what few novelists can do—revisits beloved characters and takes them to places neither they nor we ever expected.

My Thoughts:

*****Contains spoilers for the first book***** Review for Me Before You

I want to thank Netgalley and Penguin for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Earlier this year I read Me Before You and it made a huge impact in my life.; I had never cried so much as I did with that book it tore my heart out and I didn’t even mind. So when I heard there was going to be a sequel I was over the moon. This book made my heart ache and miss Will so much, I just wanted it all to be a lie and for him to make an appearance in the book, but unfortunately that was not the case. I loved that Jojo decided to write a sequel to let us know what Louisa was up to after Will and just like anyone in her situation,  she is having a hard time dealing with it; I also loved seeing what all the other characters from the first novel were doing and how they were dealing with it. After Louisa has a horrible accident she goes to live with her parents where she is convinced by her father to join a grieve counselling group that is where she meets the handsome Sam and probably the only person that understands what she is going through since he lost his sister recently, but just as Lou thinks everything is getting back to normal someone from Wills past shows up at her flat and turns her world upside down.

This book was so emotional for me it had me in tears since the first few pages, just to read about Lou and Will again made my very happy. Lou is such a strong character and her development in this book is phenomenal and so well written. I loved to see how Lou learned to cope with everything and loved to see her move on with Sam. Sam was such an amazing character that helped Lou so much and showed her that moving on doesn't mean you love the other person less. I was very happy with this sequel! Jojo's writing is superb and she did not disappoint and like with "Me Before You" she had me laughing, crying, and at the edge of my seat! With the ending of this book I'm hoping for a third one. I recommend this book to everyone that fell in love with Lou's and Will's story and if you have not read “Me Before You” I highly recommend it! It's one of my 2015 favorites and such an amazing read.

Synopsis:

James Hook is a child who only wants to grow up.

When he meets Peter Pan, a boy who loves to pretend and is intent on never becoming a man, James decides he could try being a child—at least briefly. James joins Peter Pan on a holiday to Neverland, a place of adventure created by children’s dreams, but Neverland is not for the faint of heart. Soon James finds himself longing for home, determined that he is destined to be a man. But Peter refuses to take him back, leaving James trapped in a world just beyond the one he loves. A world where children are to never grow up.

But grow up he does.

And thus begins the epic adventure of a Lost Boy and a Pirate.

This story isn’t about Peter Pan; it’s about the boy whose life he stole. It’s about a man in a world that hates men. It’s about the feared Captain James Hook and his passionate quest to kill the Pan, an impossible feat in a magical land where everyone loves Peter Pan.

My Thoughts:

First I want to thank Netgalley and Spencer Hill Press for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book, reading in Hook's perspective was very refreshing and a very different take on Peter Pan. Hook is a normal boy living in London that can't wait to be a grown up, that is until the day he meets Peter Pan who introduces young Hook to fairies, magic, and tells him all about Neverland; after hearing about the amazing world Peter comes from, Hook decides that he wants to spend his vacation in Neverland but after he spends some time there he realizes that Neverland and Peter are not as great as he thought. This book kept me up to the wee hours of the night! I really enjoyed reading about Hooks
descend
into darkness and how his hatred for the Pan (as he calls him) came to be. I felt so much for Hook and all that he lost when Pan refused to take him back home to his family, but as much as I tried to hate Pan I just couldn't my emotions for Pan where all over the place, even though Shrum showed me a more sinister side to him; I kept making excuses for him the main one being that he was child and he couldn't comprehend why someone would want to grow up or be with their parents.

The love interest in this book had me in an emotional roller coaster, I loved it so much! Hook and Tiger Lily were perfect for each other. The ending and cliffhanger, were done so well, I was not expecting it at all!  I need the second book as soon as possible! I need to know what happens to Hook, his crew, the lost boys and of course Pan. I really loved this retelling and how it stayed true to the original, even Wendy and her brothers make an appearance toward the end. If you are looking for a good villain story or just in the mood for a book with pirates, this is the book for you.

Synopsis:

It’s night. Always night. Dreams guard against the evil forged by nightmares. Infinite shooting stars illuminate a moonless sky. A city stands alone, surrounded by a darkened field. On its fringes, a man watches one star separate from the masses and fall. What survives the crash will unveil a secret centuries long hidden.

Molly hasn’t slept well since the night of her twenty-fourth birthday. Being struck by lightning might have something to do with it, but then again, her chicken did look a little undercooked at dinner. Whatever the culprit, her life quickly catapults from mundane to insane as, night after night, Molly is transported through her once dreamless sleep to a mysterious land illuminated by shooting stars.

There she meets the captivating but frustrating Dev, and together they discover Molly possesses a power coveted by his people—the ability to conjure almost anything she desires into existence. Seduced by the possibilities of this gift, Molly shifts her attention from waking life toward the man, the magic, and the world found in her dreams.

But Molly must ask herself—does something truly exist if you only see it when you close your eyes?

Faced with the threat of losing everything—her job, best friend, boyfriend, and most importantly, that little thing called her sanity—Molly will learn just how far she’ll go to uncover what is real and what is merely a figment of her imagination.

My Thoughts:

The author was kind enough to provide me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Gosh! Where do I even start this book had me on an emotional roller-coaster that I refused to get off of. It was such a good book and unlike anything I have ever read before. Molly is your normal 24 year old until the day she gets struck by lightning and she starts to have the same very vivid dream every night; the dream feels so real to Molly that it’s like she is living a second life. This book was so frigging AH-MA-ZING I need the second one now. E.J's world building was superb, the way she would describe the world Molly would wake up in when she went to sleep was so beautifully done it has me hoping I can go to it when I fall asleep. The Character building Molly goes through is so great she goes through some crazy moments, but as the book progresses she starts to cope with everything so well. Now to the love triangle oh, the love triangle is going to kill me! It is so well written I find myself flip flopping between Dev (The Dream Boy) and Jared (Real World) they are both so great, but when it comes down to it, I think I'm rooting a little harder for Dev he has just made his way into my heart and build a home there. All the characters E.J. Mellow introduced me to where so well written and I immediately fell in love with each one of them.

This book overall is just so greatly written!  As I was reading the book just sucked me in! The story was just amazing and I can't get enough of all the characters and the beautiful world that E.J. has created. I recommend this book to everyone! I absolutely loved it and with the ending I just can’t wait to get my hands on the second one.

Begging for freedom from a vile succubus, the ghoulish coven leads Ireland and her crew on a journey through Salem’s sordid past. There, they learn there is more to Nathaniel Hawthorne’s history than a scarlet letter, and the secret they’ve uncovered seeks to destroy them all.

My Thoughts:

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

I don't even know where to start; this book has left me speechless! Stacey did it again she combines amazing legends we all have grown to love and makes them her own. We're back with Ireland and the whole gang trying to help HG Wells in his pursuit to find his long lost wife which leads everyone to Salem.

This book was absolute perfection and a great ending to the saga. Stacey had me at the edge of my seat with so many twists and turns, I was not expecting! It was so good; I had to read it in one sitting because I could not put it down. Like I've said in my previous reviews, Stacy's writing is just superb she makes the stories and characters come to life and I absolutely love it! I really enjoyed the character development all the characters go through. also love the way Stacey weaves in new characters into the story; it’s done so well it feels like they have been part of the story all along. I really enjoyed reading about Preen and HG Wells they both have a special place in my heart along with all the other characters. This book took me through and emotional roller-coaster; it scared the hell out of me at points, made me laugh and had me in tears. The ending, oh, the ending I don't want to spoil it so I'm just going to say and some may disagree with me, but I think it was perfect.

This book was a bitter sweet ending to an amazing saga I have grown to love! It was very hard to say goodbye to all the amazing characters, but Stacey made sure to give them an amazing ending we will never forget. I'm currently in a book hangover that was caused by Miss. Stacey's magnificent writing, but I'm not mad; it’s going to take me a while to recover from it. Now with that said. if you have not picked this saga up, what are you waiting for?! It's amazing and the perfect October read! I myself need to get the physical copies! I just want to have them in my hands and just hold them close to me and then reread them! Yes, I'm weird.

Author: Val Frazee
Rating: ★★★★

Genre: Romance

Synopsis:

Post 9/11, Caroline Fontenot has been happily married for five years to Chandler, a sweet country boy who stole her heart in college. At least that is what she thought until the past came back to haunt them. The country is at war and all she can think about is the love that never was. Once again the ghost of Aidan Patrick haunts her dreams and now, her reality.

My Thoughts:

This was a very enjoyable light, contemporary read. I liked how the book focuses on learning to let go of the past to be able to move forward. Caroline has always been living with the ghost of her ex-boyfriend and first love Aidan, but she has always been able to keep it from taking over her completely until the day she receives a letter from Aidan's brother with some horrible news and the ghosts of her past start to consume every second of her day and start to interfere with her marriage.

I really enjoyed this read! I really liked how it went back and forward from the present to future, it really helped understand why Caroline was having such a hard time letting go of Aidan;  I also really likes that there was letters and diary entries it would pull the reader in and make the book that more enjoyable. Val hit me with a twist I wasn't expecting that made me tear up; this book made me laugh, cry and want to punch a certain person in the face. I do have to say that Chandler is an amazing guy; every man should read this book and take some notes on how to be an amazing and understanding husband. Overall I really enjoyed this book and for being Val's debut novel it was a great story! I would recommend it to anyone that is looking for a light contemporary read.

Synopsis:

Not all princesses get their happily ever after...
They tell me I killed my boyfriend Phillip in cold blood. I stabbed him twenty one times. I’m only seventeen years old, and I am serving life in Spindle Ridge Asylum for the Criminally Insane.
I don’t remember killing him, so it’s really hard to believe I’m capable of murder. In fact I don’t remember anything before I came to Spindle Ridge, not even my boyfriend.
I can only grasp onto my realistic dreams while the madness of the asylum threatens to pull me under. I dream I’m a beautiful princess and there is an evil faerie named Maleficent who is bent on my destruction. The dreams are the closest thing I have to memories of my life, except they aren’t real.
I’m crazy. I’m not a princess.
They’re the mad illusions of an irrational teenage girl, right?
They’ve assigned me a new doctor, and she says I can trust her, and that she’ll help me see the truth of who I really am.
When she arrived she brought a new patient, Sawyer, who is everything Spindle Ridge isn’t: exciting, mysterious and beautiful. He promises he’s here to rescue me. Trusting either of them frightens me.
Could it be possible that my dreams are more than just the imaginings of a delusional girl? Could they be truth?

My Thoughts:

The author was kind enough to provide me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is not your typical Sleeping Beauty retelling, but it's just as great. Rory has been sent to Spindle Ridge Asylum where she has been told she killed her boyfriend Phillip, the thing is Rory can't recall killing Phillip or even having a boyfriend all she can remember is walking into the asylum; the only thing keeping her from going mad are the very realistic dreams she’s been having, where she is a princess and has been cursed by an evil fairy.  That is until the day a new patient by the name of Sawyer checks into the Asylum, his presence starts to bring back some very powerful memories.

I've read a couple of Sleeping Beauty retellings, but this is by far my favorite! It's so different and I love it! Christy really made this story her own and gave the classic a wonderful twist; this book is so beautifully written and just kept me turning the pages. I loved the character development Rory goes throughout the book, she is a very strong and smart character and now let’s take a moment to appreciate the perfection that is Sawyer, his personality and the things he does for Rory would make any girl fall for him instantly. The ending killed me I was not ready for it, I felt my heart stop, I had to put the book down and take a couple of breaths; I need the second book immediately! I need to know what happens next!

If you have not picked this book up yet, I highly recommend you do and especially with October around the corner this is the perfect creepy read and one of the best Sleeping Beauty retelling's I've read this year.
