Synopsis:

Time passes, sins forgotten.
The bodies of the victims long since rotten.

My Thoughts:

I was provided with a copy  in exchange for an honest review.

Um, how can we make the second book as amazing as the first lets add Edgar Allen Poe into the mix. I freaking loved this book and all the new characters Stacey introduced me to! I'm just in love with Stacey's writing it so easy to follow and keep you wanting more.  Ireland is back in Manhattan looking for the person that is responsible for her cursed tattoo her search leads her to Ridley who has more in common with her than any of her friends. Together they have to fight the darkness that plagues Manhattan, but as they do Ireland feels herself losing control of the Horseman and giving in to the darkness.

Like I mentioned above I freaking loved this book! Mixing Edgar Allen Poe with The Headless Horseman was such a brilliant idea and Stacey executed it perfectly. I loved how we kept changing from Ridley's perspective to Poe's it made you go deeper into the story and understand what Ridley was going through. The new characters that we're introduced to are absolutely amazing I fell in love with Poe he could make any girl go crazy for him and Ridley oh, Ridley does it make me a bad person if I'm rooting for him and Ireland, but then I also love Noah and he is just absolute perfection! Stacey is going to kill me with all these amazing men. This book is full of twist that keep you guessing and you never see coming; I also love the humor in the book it just makes it that more enjoyable. Stacey has me hooked on this series and I can’t get enough. If you have yet to pick up this series drop everything an
d pick it up! It’s absolutely AMAZING you won’t regret it!

Synopsis

What if the monster that spawned the legend lived within you?

Now, Ireland Crane, reeling from a break-up and seeking a fresh start, must rely on the newly awakened Rip Van Winkle to discover the key to channeling the darkness swirling within her. Bodies are piling high and Ireland is the only one that can save Sleepy Hollow by embracing her own damning curse.

But is anyone truly safe when the Horseman rides?

My Thoughts:

The author was kind enough to provide me with an Ecopy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book was freaking AMAZING!! I loved it so much! I love anything that has to do with Sleepy Hollow and The Headless Horseman and Stacey wrote the perfect retelling. Ireland is going through a horrible break up and decided to move to the town of Sleepy Hollow in search of a new start it is there where she wakes Rip from a year’s sleep and finds out that darkness is trying to take over her and the only person that can help her is Rip.

I loved every second of this book from the first page to the last! When I saw I was almost done with the book I couldn't believe it, it didn't seem like I had been reading for that long this book just sucks you in and you lose track of time; that's how good it is. This book gave me goosebumps and made me laugh like crazy and I absolutely loved it. Rip was such a witty character and I immediately fell in love with him; Ireland was such a strong character I loved everything about her she had me grabbing my sides towards the end, but to find out why you will have to read the book because I don't want to spoil it for you. Stacey's writing is phenomenal! Like I said it sucks you into the book and it’s like you're right there next to the characters and not many writers can do that; the twist she hit me with had me at the edge of my seat and up to the wee hours of the night. This book is told in Ireland's and Ichabod’s perspective and it just perfect because it helps you understand the Headless Horseman's story even more. If you have not picked this book up yet, what are you waiting for? Everyone should read this book especially if you love Thrillers and Sleepy Hollow. This book will not disappoint! Its absolute perfection!

A Whole New World ( A Twisted Tale #1)

Book Review

A Whole New World (A Twisted Tale #1)

Title: A Whole New World
Author: Liz Braswell
Rating: ★★
Publication Date: September 1st,2015
Publisher: Disney Press
Page Count: 384
Genre: YA Fantasy
Meet The Author: Liz Braswell
Buy Me: AmazonB&NBook Depository

Synopsis:

Welcome to a new YA series that re-imagines classic Disney stories in surprising new ways. Each book asks the question: What if one key moment from a familiar Disney film was changed? This dark and daring version of Aladdin twists the original story with the question: What if Jafar was the first one to summon the Genie?

When Jafar steals the Genie’s lamp, he uses his first two wishes to become sultan and the most powerful sorcerer in the world. Agrabah lives in fear, waiting for his third and final wish.To stop the power-mad ruler, Aladdin and the deposed Princess Jasmine must unite the people of Agrabah in rebellion. But soon their fight for freedom threatens to tear the kingdom apart in a costly civil war.

What happens next? A Street Rat becomes a leader. A princess becomes a revolutionary. And readers will never look at the story of Aladdin in the same way again.

My Thoughts:

First I want to thank Netgalley and Disney Press for being kind enough to provide me with an Ecopy in exchange for an honest review.

This book was not at all what I expected it to be. I'm going to be giving it 3 stars because even though I didn't love it how I thought I was, I  didn't hate it. I might be in the minority saying this, but towards the middle I did start enjoying the story a bit more, but with that said it did have some flaws. This book is a retelling of Aladdin, but in this story instead of Aladdin getting the lamp it’s Jafar who gets it and summons the genie. I did like the twist and the action the author hit me with towards the end I was not expecting it; I also really liked how the author told us a little more about Aladdin's and Jasmines past.  One of my problems with this book was that it didn't have enough Jafar or Genie in my opinion, I really wanted to see more of both and unfortunately that doesn't happen until the end also the first 28% of the book was exactly like the movie and that made it a little boring, but if you can get past that the story does get better.

At this point I do not know if I will be continuing with the series.

Synopsis:

Summer Crush: A wonderfully romantic boxed set of Upper YA short stories by today's hottest authors.

Summer is the time for lazy days at the beach, sun-kissed hair, flip-flops, and sizzling nights with a new crush. Those stolen glances and first kisses can quickly spark a flame. However, the road to love isn't always a smooth ride.

Every Summer has a story, whether it’s a second chance on love, seeing a friend in a different light, or taking a step in a new direction with someone special. Love and long days create endless possibilities, but can a summer crush really last?

Sutton Summer by Sasha Hibbs:

After breaking Dylan's heart last year, McKenzie returns to Sutton Lake for another summer. McKenzie realizes love was in front of her the entire time, but is it too late for Dylan to forgive her?

Exquisite Torture by S.D. Wasley:

16 year old Ryan thinks he's in for the summer from hell, stuck at his Gran's farm in a remote town ... until he meets the adorable Connie. But why is she so cagey about her past?

Forbidden by Melissa Frost:

The new guy in town has a bad reputation and a bad boy demeanor to go with it. Even so, Olivia can’t help feeling drawn to Gavin. Can she convince her mother he’s not the delinquent everyone believes, or will his past tear them apart?

Taking the Plunge by Diana Stager:

Overwhelmed and alone, Jessica is a teenage mother struggling to give her son the best possible life. Erik, a lifeguard at the local pool, never expected the girl of his dreams to have baby in tow. They have issues, but will it keep them from pursing the relationship, or are they willing to take the plunge?

Boarderline Love by Deanna Dee:

Nearly drowning wasn't part of Dalya’s vacation plans. Neither was being rescued by a guy with a perfect six pack and a haunted look in his eyes. Mason reminds Dalya too much of her overprotective older brother, but when he offers to teach her to surf, she can’t say no. Can Dalya get past her frustration with her brother to realize how much Mason means to her?

An Ocean of Their Own by Bridie Hall:

Lola spends her days trawling the sand dunes in search of the perfect subject for her art. She finds it in a solitary, beautiful girl. Sarah doesn’t just fill the pages in her sketchbook, she enchants Lola’s heart too. But how can Lola tell her family about Sarah?

My Thoughts:

Deanne Dee the author of Borderline Love was kind enough to send me an Ecopy of these bind up of short stories in exchange for an honest review.

This book is a collection of six short summer love stories by six different authors. I really enjoyed all the stories in this book; they were cute short reads and perfect for summer reading. I will review each one below and give each story its own rating. I gave the book a 4.5 overall. I really liked all the stories and recommend this book to all my contemporary lovers or if you're just looking for a light summer read.

Sutton Summer By: Sasha Hibbs

★★

Mckenzie said some awful things to Dylan the last time they worked together during summer and now that she's headed back to her aunt's for summer she isn't looking forward to seeing him, but Dylan has done some major changes and Mackenzie starts to regret not giving him the time of day. I loved this story and the character development Mackenzie goes through was so well written and perfect. I also really loved the message this story sends out and Dylan just seems like the sweetest.

Exquisite Torture By: S.D. Wasley

Ryan is being sent to his grandma's for the summer while his parents go to Paris, Ryan thinks his summer is over until he meets Connie, but Connie is keeping secrets and lying to Ryan. This was such different summer story and the twist the author hit me with was so unexpected. This story was very enjoyable! I also like that the author showed that you don't always need WiFi or your smartphone to have a good time.

Forbidden By: Melissa Frost

Olivia can't help to feel attracted to the new guy Gavin, but there is a rumor going around that he’s a bad boy and her mother warns her to stay away from him. I really enjoyed this story; it shows that you shouldn't judge a person before getting to know them and that you can't always believe what you here. Also Gavin and Olivia were just so cute together.

Taking the Plunge By: Diana Stager

★.5

Jessica is a teenage mom living on her own trying to finish high school and take care of her son. One day she decided to take her baby for summer swimming classes and is there where she meets Erik who seems to be attracted to her and not mind that she has a baby, but Jessica is not sure she is ready for another relationship after what she's been through. This is the first time I've read anything with a teen mom in it and I loved it! Many of my friends were teen moms and they felt that their love life was over because they had a child; I love how this story shows otherwise and that there is still good guys out there that will love them and treat the baby as their own.

Border Line Love By: Deanna Dee

★.5

Dayla's on vacation trying to get away from her brother, she is in the water when she gets pulled in by a wave and almost drowns, but she is saved by Mason who also happens to be very HOT. When they bump into each other again he asks her if she would like some surfing lessons how can she refuse, but there is something from the past haunting Mason and makes act very overprotective towards Dayla. This story brought tears to my eyes! I absolutely loved Mason and just wanted to hold him until everything was okay. I really liked Daylas character as well even though she did irritate me a couple of times.

An Ocean of Their Own By: Bridie Hall

Lola had always loved to draw and now that her family has gone on vacation she has beautiful scenery to inspire her, when she sees a beautiful young girl standing far away she is taken away by how beautiful she is and starts to draw her. They soon start to spend more and more time with each other until Lola falls for her, but she doesn't know how to tell her parents. This story was very enjoyable and I feel many other teens can relate to it.

Voice of Innocence

Book Review

Voice of Innocence

Title: Voice of Innocence
Author: Lindsay Detwiler
Rating: ★★
Date Published: February 26,2015
Publisher: Melange Books
Page Count: 252
Genre: Contemporary
Meet The Author: Lindsay Detwiler

Synopsis:

We've all heard the saying: you never forget your first love. For some, however, perhaps the better terminology is haunted---haunted with the memories, the connections, and the life-changing relationship. So begins the tale of Emma Ranstein and Corbin Jones, two typical teenagers who travel the road of first love together, hearts sealed by a seemingly impenetrable bond. When Corbin Jones is convicted of murder and faces years in prison for a crime he didn't commit, though, their love is put to the test. As Emma and Corbin await his release from prison decades later, both reflect on the power of a relationship neither has gotten over. Their unique story speaks to a universal heartstring within all of us: how do we move on past a first love if we aren't meant to do so? More importantly, it reminds us that there is hope if the heart leads the way

My Thoughts:

The author was kind enough to send me a copy of Voice of Innocence in exchange for an honest review. Wow! This book was so different from the usual contemporaries I read and I really enjoyed it.

Emma and Corbin meet in art class and can't help but feel a click, they become good friends and later that friendship blossoms into something more. They have that perfect relationship that everyone envies, but wishes they had; until that horrible day where both are forced to grow up way too soon and they're dreams for a life together are destroyed.

This book was something else, but in a good way I enjoyed it so much and towards the end I just wanted more of Emma's and Corbin's story; I just couldn't get enough of it. I really liked that the book was told mostly in memories of both Emma and Corbin it made me understand the deep love they shared and it made me feel the pain and anger they went through the day he was convicted. All I could think throughout the book was how can life be so unfair to Corbin he didn't deserve the card he was dealt, but unfortunately sometimes life is unfair that way; I really loved his character the way he was towards Emma and the things he would do for her he was just perfection. I also really felt for Emma I wouldn't know what to do if I was in her shoes, she was such a strong character. I really hope there's a sequel for this book because this girl right here needs more. I recommend this book to all contemporary lovers or if you just want to have a good cry. I would love to see this book be turned into a movie; I would definitely pay to watch that.
